Family ( Hijack, Modern AU )

" I'm nervous."



" Don't be!" Jack laughed, hugging Hiccup gently.


" What if they don't like me?"


" They'll love you! I know i do~"


" Jaaaack!" Hiccup whined, pouting.


" No pouts!" Jack giggled, grabbing Hiccup's wrist and pulling him up the steps and to the front porch of Grandpa North's house.


" Bad leg!! Bad leg!!"

" Jack! How have you been?"


" Good!" The teen beamed.



Hiccup squeaked, terrified, hiding from the towering older man behind Jack.



He was revealed when he got so terrified that he squeezed Jack's hand too hard.



" OH! Who's this?"


I'm a tiny 14yrld and you're far too big! Hiccup whimpered, clutching Jack's hoodie with two tight fists.



Without warning, Jack shoved Hiccup forward, who shrunk down and began trembling intensely.



" I-i-i-i-i-'m-m-m-m H-h-h-i-c-cc-cup..."


He stumbled back against Jack, begging to go back to hiding.



Grandpa North got a mischievous sparkle in his eyes, and he reached out, gently shaking Hiccup's hand.


He leaned close, and Hiccup noticed his breath smelled distinctly of peppermint.


" My grandson can get a bit lonely. I'm glad to see him have you for company."



He winked, and Hiccup smiled a little.

Hiccup wasn't used to so much attention.



He kept looking at the floor, awkwardly accepting friendly hugs, and clutching Jack's hand. It was a relief to finally be able to have Jack take him to an open corner of a couch, where he could sit and finally just observe everything going on.



Everyone was really nice, really friendly, lots of hugs and handshakes and greetings. Jack's Aunt Tiana had complimented him on his teeth; she was a dentist. Then there was her daughter, Baby, who was Jack's niece.


Then there was Uncle Sandy, who was mute, but was still very fond of hugs and handshakes. And Jack's Uncle Aster, who was very excitable over the Easter holiday. Jack mentioned somewhere along the line of the conversation and greetings that it was his favorite holiday.

" You know you don't have to be shy around my family." Jack whispered, giving Hiccup's hand a gentle squeeze.


" I know." Hiccup said softly, leaning his head on Jack's shoulder and feeling the teen's arm wrap around his side.


" And i told you they'd love you."


" They've stuffed me full of food and smothered me in affection." Hiccup giggled, adjusting the sleeves on his Easter sweater.


" That means they love you." Jack smiled, resting his head against Hiccup's.



" I sure hope so.." The brunette whispered to himself more than to his boyfriend.

It had been dark outside Grandpa North's house for a couple hours now.



The basement was warm, and the chatter of the family members was comforting and constant.




Hiccup was managing to fall asleep.




He felt a hand gently touch the hand that was still holding Jack's. Green eyes opened slowly and sleepily.



Uncle Aster.



He was smiling, and he held out a pink, plush rabbit.



" Welcome to the family, anklebiter."
